California Bar Reciprocity

Horizontal Navigation Bar w/Rollover Effect

California bar reciprocity does not exist. The California rules bluntly indicate this fact. At this time bar reciprocity in any type of fashion exists only through the California Attorneys’ Exam. To even sit for that exam an attorney needs to have practiced for four years in another jurisdiction and be in good standing. The good news about the California attorneys exam is that it only consists of the written portion of the general California Bar Exam. If an attorney does not meet such requirements they have to take the entire California Bar Exam in order to be admitted into the state of California for legal practice. California does have pro hac vice admission however.
